Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Patna on Sunday to address NDA’s sankalp rally, a terror suspect, allegedly having links with Jaish-e-Mohammad, was arrested from a village in Banka district on Saturday.
The man identified as Mohammed Rehan, 32, was arrested from Belari village under Shambhuganj police station of Banka district, some 300 km from Patna. Earlier, Jaish-e-Mohammad had owned responsibility for Pulwama terror attack in which over 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
Another suspect from the same village Mohammed Naushad, however, is said to have escaped. “Ahead of Prime Minister’s visit the State police get several intelligence inputs from various sources…I cannot make any comment on this,” State Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey told presspersons in Patna. However, Banka SP Swapna T. Meshram said that a police team arrested Mohammed Rehan and was “interrogating him”.
Meanwhile, family members of Mohammed Rehan told local presspersons in Banka that they did not know why the police had taken him into custody. “He does cattle business and is into agriculture…he minds his own business …,” said a family member. They also denied that Mohammed Rehan had any connections with Mohammed Naushad who lived nearby.
