Kerala has always been known for its ‘secular status’ in the world, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.
He was speaking after inaugurating a memorial of the famous Guruvayur Temple Entry and installation of CCTV cameras for security of Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple on Thursday.
“Kerala has developed into the current status through breach of many rituals. Renaissance leaders, including Sree Narayana Guru, had taught us to breach the rituals. There were protests from society whenever we tried to oppose social evils. We opposed social norms to attain temple entry and education for all,” he said.
While addressing a rally in Thrissur organised by the LDF, the Chief Minister said the government was with the devotees.
“The RSS is trying to created violence in Sabarimala. They have brought criminals to create clash. Those criminals have been trained in RSS shakhas. They are purposely creating a tense situation in Sabarimala,’’ he said.
He said the government had always protected the interests of all groups of devotees. Some people were trying to divide society on communal lines, he said.
