Rajkiran bags Tamil rights to his Malayalam film with Mammootty, titles it ‘Kuberan’

Film will mark the first time in 22 years that Rajkiran and Meena are seen on the silver screen together after ‘Pasamulla Pandiyare’

It is well known that actor Rajkiran is making his debut in Malayalam films alongside Mammootty in a film titled Shylock. Now it seems that the 69-year-old actor’s firm Red Sun Art Creations has bagged the film’s Tamil dubbing rights, and is now set to release it under the title of Kuberan. Meena stars as the female lead, and it would be the first time in 22 years that Rajkiran and Meena would be seen on the silver screen together after Pasamulla Pandiyare (1997). Incidentally, Rajkiran has written the dialogues, and penned the lyrics to a few songs, for the Tamil version.

Kuberan is directed by Ajai Vasudev, for whom it is his third film. All three of them have featured Mammootty in the lead. Other members of the cast include Kalabhavan Shajohn (who was a part of Rajinikanth’s 2.0) and John Vijay — the duo are said to play negative roles, besides Arthana Binu, Jayaprakash and Siddique.

Musical score is by Gopi Sundar of Bangalore Days fame. The film is produced by Joby George, who was in the news recently following a spat with actor Shane Nigam. The latter accused the former of threatening him after he changed his hairstyle while still filming for a movie titled Veyil, which was bankrolled by George.
