Suffering from a prolonged illness, Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon passed away on Monday morning.
According to reports, Tandon was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathing problems, difficulty in urination and fever.
The 85-year-old Madhya Pradesh Governor was undergoing treatment since June 11. Lalji was getting treated in Lucknow since last month.
Lalji Tandon’s son and Cabinet Minister in UP Government Ashutosh Tandon announced the demise of his father.
“Babuji is no more,” Lalji Tandon’s son tweeted. Lalji Tandon passed away on Tuesday morning at 5.35 am in Lucknow, the tweet in Hindi read.
Earlier, Medical Director of Medanta Hospital said that the condition of Tandon, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Lucknow was “now stable and but still on critical care ventilator”.
Ashutosh Tandon said that his father’s last rites will be performed while following the COVID-19 guidelines on Tuesday evening in Lucknow and requested everyone to pay homage to the leader while remaining at home.
Offering his condolences to Lalji’s family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tweet, remembered Lalji’s untiring efforts to serve society.
‘He played a key role in strengthening the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance of public welfare. Anguished by his passing away.’ Modi tweeted.
