Voters in the 30-39 age group the largest segment

New voters and those above 80 years form the smallest age groups in the electoral rolls for the 2019 general elections while voters in the 30-39 age group form the largest.

Of the total voter strength of 2,54,08,711, the 18-19 age group accounts for 2,61,778 voters (1.03 %). Voters in the 80-plus age group account for 1.9 % of the total voters while the 70-79 age group accounts for 5.7 %.

Forming the largest group is the 30-39 age group which accounts for 22.4 %. The 40-49 age group with 54,38,178 voters forms the third largest group with 21.4 %.

Disabled-friendly

The Transport Department will provide travel facilities to people with disabilities to reach the polling stations on election day, Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said. District Collectors have also been instructed to ensure that all 24,970 polling stations are fitted with ramps for the use of voters with disabilities, he said. Drinking water and toilets also will be available at the stations.

Green protocol will be in enforced for the elections, Mr Meena said.
