Uttar Pradesh reported two coronavirus-related deaths in a day when after test reports of a 25-year-old man, who died two days ago, confirmed he had been COVID-19 positive. The victim from Gorakhpur might possibly be the youngest to succumb to the pandemic in India.
The second casualty has come to light from Meerut where a 72-year-old patient who had tested positive for the virus on March 29 succumbed to complications later in the day.
Fresh coronavirus positive cases are being reported from different parts of the country including news of a spike in Andhra Pradesh with 43 people testing positive between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The nationwide tally of positive cases has crossed 1700
Tuesday saw a big spike in India as 146 new cases were reported by the Union Health Ministry. A chunk of the new cases has been linked to the Nizamuddin Markaz where the Tablighi Jamaat held a congregation of thousands.
The government currently has identified 16 coronavirus hotspots in the country. They are: Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin in Delhi, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod in Kerala, Noida and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Bhilwara and Jaipur in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra, Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Nawanshahr in Punjab, Bengaluru in Karnataka, Erode in Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
