As the nation-wide cases of coronavirus touched 16,116, Telangana extended the lockdown till May 7, becoming the first state in the country to take this step. The state has also suspended delivery services such as Swiggy and Zomato for the time being.

On the other hand, Centre on Monday asked the Kerala government to reconsider its move to allow activities like local workshops, barbershops, restaurants, book stores, MSMEs, bus travel in the cities and towns for a shorter distance, as this amounts to dilution of guidelines issued by MHA and violation of MHA order dated 15th April issued under the Disaster Management Act 2005

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said that 1553 new cases and 36 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours as the confirmed positive cases in India stood at 17265, while 543 have died so far. 2547 patients recovered as per the latest government data.

As the country entered 27th day of the lockdown, the Ministry of Home Affairs earlier allowed the movement of stranded migrants within a state. The central government also clarified that the service of non-essential items by e-commerce companies will remain banned during the ongoing lockdown.
