COVID-19 LIVE | 37,148 new cases and 587 deaths in last 24 hours take India’s tally past 11,5 lakh mark, toll reaches 28084


After resgistering its all-time high of over 40,000 cases on Monday, India saw a dip in new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday as the country recorded 37,148 new patients and 587 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Total COVID-19 positive cases stand at 11,55,191 including 4,02,529 active cases, 7,24,578 cured/discharged/migrated and 28084 deaths, as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

Meanwhile, AIIMS-Delhi on Monday began recruiting volunteers for conducting human clinical trials of the indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin, the premier medical institute’s Director Dr Randeep Guleria said.

He also said there is not much evidence of community transmission of COVID-19 happening at the national level.

The process of administering the vaccine among the volunteers have already started in Hyderabad and Goa.

Close to 3.5 lakh samples tested in last 24 hours

1,43,81,303 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 20th July. Of these 3,33,395 were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
