Coronavirus Latest Updates: Fifth death reported in India, 324 cases reported

Coronavirus (COVID-19) LIVE Updates: One more death was reported from Mumbai after a 63-year-old man, admitted in HN Reliance hospital on March 19 with suspected symptoms of flu passed away late on Saturday night. His nasal swab had tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. This is the second death in Mumbai. Maharashtra on Sunday reported 10 new cases, with toll rising to 74.

The number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases rose to 324 in India on Sunday, the health ministry said in its bulletin. Meanwhile, China on Sunday saw a rise in the number of imported coronavirus cases continuously for fourth straight day. The country’s National Health Commission said that out of all those cases, only one was domestic. It reported 41 new cases on Saturday. The coronavirus disease killed more than 13,000 people in the world and affected more than 3,00,000.

Meanwhile, ahead of the ‘Janata curfew’ on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday appealed people to not rush to their hometowns and villages in fear of the coronavirus, urging them to not travel in large numbers. “I pray to all, whichever city you are in, please stay put for a few days. If we do this, we will be able to combat the spread of the virus,” PM Modi said. In an attempt to curb the spread of the virus, the PM on Thursday called for a ‘Janata curfew’ on March 22 (Sunday) asking people to not step out of homes between 7 am and 9 pm.
